William H. Robb
Managing Director

Bill Robb is a Managing Director of Platte River Ventures, having joined the firm in 2006. Mr. Robb’s experience encompasses thirty-five years of marketing management, corporate development and private equity investing.

In addition to his role with Platte River Ventures Mr. Robb serves as a Senior Advisor to Private Equity Investors, Inc., a private equity fund investing in secondary LP interests. He is a founder and partner of Black Hawk Partners, which provides market strategy and capital placement advisory services for growth-stage enterprises.

Prior to joining Platte River Ventures, Mr. Robb served as President of FIL Partners (FIL), a private equity-backed spin-off of the International Operating Assets of Fruehauf Trailer Company. As President of FIL, Mr. Robb served as a member of the Boards of Directors of the leading manufacturers of tractor trailers in Europe, Japan, Africa and Argentina, representing more than $1.4 billion in annual revenue. In addition, Mr. Robb was responsible for developing and maintaining license agreements in Australia/New Zealand, Brazil, Columbia, and Korea, as well as for manufacturing joint ventures in China and France. Prior to the formation of FIL partners, Mr. Robb served as VP Corporate Development for Fruehauf Trailer Company and President of Fruehauf International, Ltd.

Mr. Robb’s private equity experience includes serving as Managing Partner of Sentry Financial Corporation Accelerator Fund, which invested growth capital in early-stage ventures. He also served as a partner with Ridge Capital, providing equity capital for middle market management buyouts.

Mr. Robb’s earlier experience includes positions as a Managing Director in the Merger & Acquisition department of Continental Bank, Manager at A.T. Kearney and Director of Business Planning, A.B. Dick Company.

Mr. Robb holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, where he also received his B.S. in Business Administration.
